Gift Guide for Makeup Lovers

Disclaimer: A few of these items are from Mary Kay, not all. If you are interested in purchasing one of these products as a gift, please do so through your Mary Kay Consultant.

Now, if you aren’t into makeup, venturing into the world of makeup for the sake of a gift for someone else can be intimidating. Trust me – I’ve seen the panicked look in my husband’s eyes as he realizes he has to go into a Sephora or Ulta without me to buy me a gift.

Luckily, I spend lots of time in the world of makeup and know exactly what’s hot for the holidays this year. I’m going to try to keep the price point more reasonable, as most people are not looking to spend $100 on a face powder for someone else.

Let’s start with some more affordable, stocking stuffer type  items…

Mary Kay NouriShine Lip Gloss, $15

With a wide shade variety and a formula that is actually good for your lips, there’s something in this line for everyone. The texture is smooth, with enough tackiness that it wears well but doesn’t feel sticky. The formula boasts a complex of vitamin-rich antioxidants and plant-derived minerals to smooth, protect, and condition.

Mary Kay Blending Sponge, $12

I literally can’t seem to stop talking about this sponge! I’ve mentioned it in two other blog posts (this one and this one) and am bringing it up again, but that’s how great it is! Seriously, I can’t imagine a makeup lover not absolutely loving this sponge! And the price point makes it a perfect gift for everyone, even young girls just starting to wear makeup.

Mary Kay Lash Intensity Mascara, $18

This mascara is not for the faint of heart! With its really funky wand, this mascara brings the drama. There is a bit of a learning curve, as the wand is specifically designed to bring length and volume, but once you’ve got it down the results are stunning! Trust me, she wants it!

L’Oréal Infallible Paints Metallics in Moon Lust, $7.49

This is probably one of my favorite lipsticks right now. The color is absolutely stunning – it’s like a true rose gold – and goes very well with winter colors, such as burgundy, plum, and olive. It smells delicious too, almost like a fruity candy, and the formula is comfortable to wear.

Okay, let’s get into some pricier items…

Tarte Blush Palette, $44

I’ve watched a lot of YouTube, and I’ve literally never heard anyone talk poorly about these blushes. They’re long lasting, come in about a zillion colors, and the packaging is amazing! Blush palettes are extra great because they save on space while still giving you plenty of options.

Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector, $38

This is definitely one of the more expensive items – $38 for one product in one color. That being said, it’s totally worth it! Becca highlighters are well known for being absolutely stunning. The great thing about them is that their shade range accommodates a wide range of skin tones, so all you have to do is know the skin tone (fair, medium, deep, etc) of the person you’re shopping for and an Ulta or Sephora employee can make a recommendation.

Jaclyn Hill Eyeshadow Palette, $38

I think this is one of my favorite makeup products ever… I know that’s a really bold statement to make, but I’m being 1,000% serious. This palette is very affordable – I mean, it comes with 35 different shades. The color range is wonderful; it has lots of neutrals, mainly warm tones, but pops of color too. I’ve created some really fun looks with this palette! The formula is also very unique, as the company who created it (Morphe) specially purchased new machinery in order to make it. The mattes are pigmented and blend like a dream and the shimmers back a stunning punch.

Tartelette Toasted Palette, $46

If who you’re buying for isn’t really into pops of color, then I recommend this baby. Tarte eyeshadows are notoriously fabulous! They also smell wonderful. And if she’s into warm tones then you will definitely hit a home run with this palette!

Stila Liquid Eyeshadow Set, $45

This is another one of those products that I haven’t heard a single negative thing about. Everybody loves these because they make glitter easy to use. Glitter is absolutely stunning but loose glitter is such a pain to use! These take out all the risk and difficulty of glitter but are just as gorgeous!

I recommend the set because it’s more bang for your buck but they are available individually as well.

Mary Kay Deep Cleansing Charcoal Mask, $24

I know this technically isn’t a makeup item, but people who are usually into makeup are also into skincare, so that’s how I’m justifying throwing this in! Seriously though, this mask will change your life. Or their life – whoever you’re shopping for. But I recommend you pick one up for yourself because it is that incredible! I can’t sing its praises enough! It somehow does everything – unclogs pores, moisturizes, fights dark spots, absorbs excess oil, fights and prevents acne. And at $24 per bottle, it’s the best value on the market!

Side story about this mask: my mother wasn’t going to buy it when it released because she was saving up for a trip in Europe, but after trying it she almost fainted because it “gave her a 20 year old’s nose!”. Seriously, just trust me and GET IT!

Let’s get into some non-makeup items that makeup lovers want!

Selfie Ring Light, $13

These little lights are quite nifty! They are relatively inexpensive but pack quite the punch. They make amazing gifts, especially if she likes to take pictures of her makeup. This is currently all that I use for my shots on my Instagram and they turn out great.

Vanity Mirror, $15

This mirror from Costco freaking blows my mind! It’s lighted, has a normal and magnified side, and it gigantic. It’s honestly a steal for the price. Other stores have much smaller mirrors that aren’t as good for double the price.

Acrylic Lipstick Holders, $11

These acrylic holders are a must for any makeup junkie! There’s no good way to store lipstick other than holders such as this. These keep the lipsticks from falling over and make it easy for you to see which color.

Question of the Day:

If you’re a makeup lover, what things would you add? What are some of your favorite products that you think everyone would enjoy?

  1. Awesome list! I screenshotted a couple things for the girls and I! Thanks for being a life saver! Also, being a makeup artist, this was very well put together. I love the different price ranges and you are able to target all differect types. Excellent, excellent job!

    1. That’s awesome! We recently released a new lipstick line so be sure to have your consultant give you some samples – they’re amazing! I think those liquid glitters are on my personal list! ☺

  2. The tarte toasted palette is on my list of palette’s to get. I currently use the Jaclyn Hill Morphe palette pretty much every day and I am loving the wide variety of looks you can pull from the palette. I would add a setting spray, I like Limelight’s and Urban Decay’s also a primer, Hourglass Mineral Veil primer is my go to right now.

    1. I purposefully didn’t add expensive products that are used daily like foundations, primers, and setting sprays because the use up rate is so quick! I’d personally hate to get an item like that, fall in love, and then not be able to repurchase myself 💔
